The short version: Focal does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no internet connection, no analytics, and no advertising. The JSON files you open are read entirely on your device and never leave it.

1. Information we collect

None. Focal has no user accounts and contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising software. The app does not send your data to us or to anyone else. We, the developer, have no way to see the files you open or anything you do in the app.

2. The app is fully offline

Focal does not connect to the internet. It never uploads your files or any other data, and it contains no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. You can use it with your device in airplane mode from start to finish.

3. Your files stay on your device

When you open a JSON file, Focal reads it locally on your device to display it. The contents of your files are never uploaded, copied to us, or shared with anyone.

4. Data stored on your device

To make the app convenient, some information is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage:

A list of recently opened files (the file name and location) so you can reopen them quickly.
App preferences, such as theme and language.

This data never leaves your device. You can clear the recent list at any time from within the app, and uninstalling Focal erases all of it.

5. Permissions

Focal only accesses the specific files you choose to open through the system file picker. It does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or photos, and it does not scan or browse your device on its own.

6. Sharing with third parties

We do not share your data with anyone, because we never collect it in the first place.

7. Children

Because Focal collects no data and has no accounts, ads, or internet features, it is safe for users of all ages.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
